12-year-old Steve grows up in the mid-90s with his mother and older brother Ian, who regularly beats him up. Steve doesn't have any friends, but when he sees a few older skaters in a skate store, he is fascinated. He teaches himself to skate and finds access to the group. But there is also a lot of alcohol and cigarettes around.
