The Jewish girl Hadassah comes to the court of Xerxes, King of the Persians, and from then on calls herself Esther. Xerxes falls in love with her and marries the young girl. Esther soon discovers a plot. According to the plot, Haman, the king's chief chamberlain, is planning the annihilation of the Jews in Persia, and thus also her own life and that of her uncle Mordechai.
