The northern Rocky Mountains in the 1820s: Trapper Hugh Glass is attacked and seriously injured by a bear during a hunting expedition. Pursued by Indians, his companions decide not to take him any further, as his transportation puts them all in danger. Three men are told to wait for Glass to die and then bury him - but they leave him alone.
