Family saga that tells the story of the Jewish Sonnenschein family in their native Hungary over four generations, from the imperial period in the 19th century to the time of communism. Throughout, the family is subjected to anti-Semitism, although they change their name and later their religion. Ralph Fiennes plays the three male leads.
