In 1789, young Sidonie is a reader for Queen Marie-Antoinette at Versailles. When the Bastille is stormed by the people of Paris, the court is in great turmoil. While many nobles flee, Sidonie wants to stay with the queen, whom she adores but who is unpopular with the people.
