History lecturer Adam Bell leads a routine life with his girlfriend Mary. When he rents a film made in his home town of Toronto, he discovers an actor in it who looks exactly like him. He contacts the man named Anthony Claire and his wife Helen, who believe they are dealing with a stalker.
