Shortly before his execution, a death row inmate is poisoned with his last meal. Dale the Whale, a fellow inmate whom Monk had put behind bars, wants the culprit to be found. He baits Monk into believing that he has information about the murder of his wife Trudy, and Monk actually goes to prison incognito.
