Karaoke is a social form of singing in which amateur singers sing the lyrics on a screen (often also the melody in note form) and belt out familiar tunes into a microphone. Karaoke is particularly widespread in Asia as an entertainment form. The Playstation game SingStar has also helped karaoke to become popular.
