Joel and Ellie have arrived in Salt Lake City, where the Fireflies' hospital is supposed to be located. Joel tries to convince Ellie to turn back to Tommy's community, but they are captured by Fireflies. When Joel wakes up, he learns from Marlene that Ellie is in the operating room where her brain is to be removed to get the antidote. He does not want to accept this.
