A former police employee is found murdered after returning from vacation. Mr. Monk knew her from his active days, but he is busy with something else: Outside the supermarket he has bumped into Hal Tucker, a man who is very friendly towards him and wants to meet up. Monk hopes to have a real friend for the first time.
