Just as Lieutenant Disher and Captain Stottlemeyer are about to arrest a criminal biker, they are shot at from a car and Stottlemeyer is injured. Monk isn't much help this time because, on the advice of his doctor, he tries a new drug that is supposed to take away his fears. But this causes him to become so relaxed that he can no longer concentrate.
