During the San Francisco Marathon, a woman is murdered and thrown out of the window of her high-rise apartment. She was having an affair with family man Trevor McDowell, who was running in the marathon, as the electronic recording proves. Monk, a former runner himself, is nevertheless certain that he must have been the murderer.
