Body parts of a man are found on coal loads in northern China. In an attempt to apprehend a suspect, two police officers are killed and colleague Zhang Zili is injured. Years later, when he has resigned from the force, new bodies are found. Wu Zhizhen, the wife of the first victim, was related to them. Zhang Zili pursues her to find out more.
