Rowan Atkinson in a serious role as Parisian Inspector Jules Maigret, who is unsuccessfully on the hunt for a woman killer. As he comes under increasing pressure from politics and the public, Maigret decides to set a trap for the killer: He pretends to have caught the murderer so that the real criminal will try to strike again.
