Steve DeWitt has an argument with his mistress, causing her to fall and die. Since he hides the body, no one knows where the dead woman is and someone has to take care of her dog. Mr. Monk surprisingly offers to take it in, and although the animal doesn't always do what Mr. Monk wants, he also finds positive sides to his new companion.
